Shawn Mendes is denying recent reports about his dating life, revealing in an interview during the American Music Awards that's he single.

This may come as a surprise to some fans, considering the rumor mill was hard at work with recent reports linking Shawn to Hailey Baldwin. According to previous sources, the pair have been "seriously dating" for months. But, speaking with E! News on the AMAs red carpet, Shawn responded to questioning whether he brought a date to the event. When asked whether he's dating anybody, he responded, "No I'm not, currently no." The singer then went on to reveal that the number one quality he looks for in a potential partner is humor.

Fans on Twitter aren't totally convinced though, with some responding that they still believe the previous reports regarding his relationship with Hailey. Others point out that it's possible the pair could just be friends and some fans are taking the news from the interview an opportunity to celebrate.
